But rather than share this moment of dazzling glory, Jesus told his disciples to stay quiet—because the crown was not the goal without the cross. Jesus embraced the suffering of the cross before receiving the glory of the crown—and as followers of Christ, we’re called to do the same. There’s no shortcut to maturity, no easy path to spiritual strength. So when hardship hits, instead of asking “How can I escape this?” we should ask, “How can I grow through this?”
