Who are you investing in?
In the sermon "Helping People is Exhausting," we look at 1 Thessalonians 2:17–3:10 and see why Paul cared so deeply for the church in Thessalonica. He did not just help people when it was easy. He invested in their faith because he wanted them to know Jesus and keep following Him.
Paul called these believers his joy and reward. Their growth in Christ mattered to him because he had given his time, energy, and love to help them grow.
Helping people can feel tiring when it is only a duty. But investing in someone’s walk with Jesus changes the way we see them. As we give our lives to help others know Christ, our love for them grows too.
Jesus did this with His disciples. He taught them, prayed for them, and lived life with them. Then He called them friends.
This message challenges us to ask: Who will I invest in today? What can I do to help someone grow closer to Jesus?
Out of all the places that I figured I would eventually belong, a church would have definitely been at the bottom of that list. The people here are amazing and make life fun. I honestly couldn't see myself belonging anywhere else.
