Bishop Ron Bowell asks the questions: Why the Church? Why does the church exist? Is it a building, an institution, or a people with a purpose?
Jesus came to teach, seek the lost, and save sinners. He showed us God’s grace and truth, and He calls His followers to carry that message to the world.
This message focuses on four vital words: Seek. Save. Grace. Truth. The church is called to go beyond its walls, shine the light of Jesus, and help people discover the hope of salvation. We are saved by God’s grace, not by our own good works. We are also called to live by the truth and share it with others.
The church is more than a place where we gather. It is God’s people, sent to be witnesses for Jesus wherever they go.
Christ’s purpose for coming becomes our purpose for going. His purpose for dying becomes our purpose for living.
Out of all the places that I figured I would eventually belong, a church would have definitely been at the bottom of that list. The people here are amazing and make life fun. I honestly couldn't see myself belonging anywhere else.
