ClosePeter was sure he would never deny Jesus. But when the pressure came, Peter denied knowing Him... not once, but three times. What went wrong? Mark 14 shows that Peter’s failure started before the denials. He followed Jesus from a distance. He was also overconfident, believing he knew better than Jesus. Peter remembered Jesus’ warning, but he had not really trusted what Jesus had said. Peter’s story reminds us that we can fail too. Following Jesus closely takes humility, courage, prayer, and daily commitment. Sometimes it means standing with Jesus when others do not. Sometimes it means making the effort to spend time with God when we would rather do something else. We cannot afford to follow Jesus from a distance. The closer we stay to Christ, the better prepared we are when pressure comes. This week, ask yourself: Am I following Jesus closely, or from a distance?
