What happens when we want to follow God, but our human weakness gets in the way?
In Mark 14, Jesus enters the Garden of Gethsemane knowing the pain that is coming. He is deeply troubled and overwhelmed with sorrow. Even Jesus needed godly friends around Him, and He turned to prayer in His darkest hour.
The disciples wanted to be strong, but they fell asleep. Jesus gave them a powerful truth: “The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.”
We know what it is like to want to do the right thing but still fail. The good news is that Jesus understands our weakness. Even better, He succeeded where we failed. He faced pain, fear, and suffering without giving up or disobeying God.
As we grow closer to Christ, our spirits become stronger. Prayer, godly friendships, and spiritual disciplines help us resist temptation and live more like Jesus.
Out of all the places that I figured I would eventually belong, a church would have definitely been at the bottom of that list. The people here are amazing and make life fun. I honestly couldn't see myself belonging anywhere else.
