When Confidence Gets Dangerous

Could your confidence actually lead you to fail? In the sermon "When Confidence Gets Dangerous," we look at Mark 14:27–31 and see Peter boldly tell Jesus he would never fall away. But Peter trusted his feelings and passion more than the words of Christ. Jesus warned that all the disciples would fall away, and Peter immediately pushed back. Instead of asking for help, he acted stronger than he really was. Before the night was over, Peter denied Jesus three times. This message reminds us that passion alone is not enough. Real strength comes from humility, wisdom, and trusting Jesus more than our emotions. Peter’s story challenges us to stop pretending we are beyond failure. Wise people listen, learn, and ask for help before they fall. But there is hope here too. Jesus already knew Peter would fail—and He still loved him and stayed faithful to him. Will you trust your feelings—or trust Christ?
