How do we know whether God has spoken through someone and what do we do when we encounter potential truth?
There are some people that take any word said to be from God as true. It doesn’t matter who it comes from or how they say it or even if it’s true or not. They accept it as truth. Then there are people who aren’t even receiving God’s word.
Let’s say that you are receiving what you potentially believe to be words from God. Whether from a preacher or someone else. So how do we know if what is being said is true? The first thing we have to do is receive the words. Take them in. Then we have to analyze them, compare them to what is in the Bible and determine if it’s truth or not. Once we’ve done those things we either accept or reject what was said. If it matches up with what the Bible says, then it’s true and we need to follow through.
We should be careful how we listen to sermons and lessons, since God may be trying to speak to us through the preacher or teacher. Then it is our responsibility to analyze, accept and follow through.
